On behalf of the officers and members of the Roanoke Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority Inc. we welcome you to our website. The Roanoke Alumnae Chapter is nestled in the beautiful mountains of Southwest Virginia. We are a part of the Sensational South Atlantic Region of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority Inc. The members of the Roanoke Alumnae chapter are unwavering in our mission to empower our community through public service. For over 80 years, we have continued to be a strong force within our community, providing programs that educate, motivate and affect positive change in the areas of Educational Development, Economic Development, International Awareness and Social Action, Physical and Mental Health, and Political Awareness and Involvement. It is an honor to serve as the President of this great chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. is a private, nonprofit organization whose purpose is to provide assistance and support through established programs in local communities throughout the world. Founded on January 13, 1913 by twenty-two collegiate women at Howard University, the Sorority is currently a sisterhood of more than 200,000 predominately Black college educated women. This includes over 900 chapters located in the United States, England, Japan (Tokyo and Okinawa), Germany, the Virgin Islands, Bermuda, the Bahamas, and the Republic of Korea.
The major programs of the sorority are based upon the organization's Five Point Programmatic Thrust:
